Metatron's Forest Mural

Cube Closeup

About

Painting was one of my first loves artistically; before I Dedicated Myself to Art School, I really wanted to create a defining "pre-education" piece. Getting to work on a mural was also a lofty goal I was holding onto; I decided the best way to show I was capable of doing so was to try. I did this in a few months on one of the walls of my apartment that was getting torn down when we moved anyways. Creating something so huge I knew was going to get destroyed in the end was hugely freeing and a practice in ultimate detachment.

Early MF

I'm very proud not only of the scale and therefore commitment this project took, but also that I see it as a sign of what I had learned so far as an artist and spiritually. The piece gets it's name from the Archangel Metatron, commonly symbolized by the large Metatron's Cube in the center of the image. It combines elements of sacred geometry, philosophy, astrology, and many world religions that were important to me at the time. My goal was that walking from one end of the piece to the other would truly feel like walking through a forest of knowledge.
