Drawing II | Spring 24

Drawing II was an extremely interesting class that explored what it even meant for your drawing to get “more advanced”.

Floating World Finished

We learned about drafting, precise measurements, how to draw in perspective, and honed our technical skill. Our final project of the class was to design an entire space, in scale and perspective, complete with furniture. (I only sort of finished, tbh)

The Catwalk

Catwalk

We broke the class up with a unit on a more experimental form of drawing. Our assignments were literally to just go outside and draw what we saw.

Outside textures

Well, not just draw. Experiment with texture. Observe. Abstract. We created small collections of pieces as well as walking strips where we drew continuously while walking outside.

Rough Edges Collage

Towards the end of the experimental unit we learned about creating work in a series. We were supposed to create three to four pieces of the same size that all worked together in some way. Collage was highly encouraged. continuous contour Since this was once of the last classes many of us would take on our way to finishing our degrees, many people revisited pieces they’d worked on previously. I included a continuous blind contour sketch I’d done in Drawing I into my final piece, which was extra cool because I’d had the same teacher for both classes.

Originally in the finished piece, I kept the scroll in the end rolled up and didn't read the poem for class. When I started uploading poetry to my blog I decided to finally give it a proper audience.
