2D Design | Spring 24
This was the first art class I took ever. I remember being amazed as my professor walked through the syllabus, wondering how he was so easily able to break art into manageable chunks. I had just literally never heard of the principles of art and design. He was an amazing teacher though that made the profession seem effortless; he retired a semester later, and I was so grateful to have studied under him. It’s also crazy because now two years later I’ve taught the same concepts to hundreds of kiddos. Life moves fast.

I really liked this class because even though it was taught in a computer lab and we had access to Adobe, we could use any combination of physical and digital media our hearts desired. Going in I was fully intending on learning how to digital art. . . but I didn’t like it. I began to really see the value in maintaining physical art practices.

Many of the projects I made for this class could be best considered digital collage. I had a lot of fun experimenting in that way. So much fun that one of my pieces from this class ended up winning me an Art Award! Here's a nifty little video I made explaining my process for creating that piece:
